Arthur Enwelum, a brilliant Nigerian scholar, graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, achieving an impressive CGPA of 4.80/5.00.
His stellar academic performance earned him the Overall Best Graduating Student Award in his department, along with several notable prizes, including the Dean’s Prize and the Engr. Oludare Ogunlade Academic Prize for Excellence.
Arthur’s journey, marked by challenges such as a two-year delay in his cohort’s graduation, was shaped by resilience, faith, and the unwavering support of his family, friends, and mentors. Reflecting on his experience, he expressed gratitude to God and credited the supportive communities that inspired him, including the Engineering Students Christian Association (ESCA), CASOR UNILAG, and IEEE Student Branch.
During his undergraduate years, Arthur achieved numerous milestones: securing three scholarship awards, interning at TotalEnergies and Chevron Nigeria Limited, and designing an innovative electronic navigation system for a blind student as his final-year project. He also served as Assistant Robotics Team Lead for the IEEE Student Branch and organized free tutorials to help his peers excel academically.
Offering advice to undergraduates, Arthur emphasized the importance of combining academic excellence with real-world understanding and strong character. “Good grades open doors, but deep understanding and good character sustain opportunities. Above all, honor God with your academics,” he said.
Arthur’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, faith, and community support in achieving extraordinary success.
