FUTA Management Appoints Ukwenya Acting Provost of College of Health Sciences.

The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA has appointed Professor Victor Ukwenya of the Department of Human Anatomy as Acting Provost of College of Health Science for a period of six months effective 1st April, 2025.

Prior to this position, Ukwenya has acted as Dean, School of Basic Medical Sciences and Chair, Committee of Heads of Department in addition to serving as Acting Head, Department of Human Anatomy; Chair, Examination Committee; Chair, Appointment and Promotion Committee , and Deputy Provost among others.

Professor Ukwenya started his teaching career as a Teaching Assistant, Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (2007); Lecturer II, Department of Anatomy, College of Health Sciences, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State (2008-2012); Lecturer I, Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, Kogi State University, Anyigba (2012-2014); Lecturer I, Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (2014-2016); before joining FUTA’s Department of Anatomy, School of Health and Health Technology in 2016 as a Senior Lecturer. He became a Reader in 2019 and a Professor in 2022.

Ukwenya started his education sojourn at the Baptist Primary School, Ilorin, Kwara State (1986-1991); Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State (1991-1997) before proceeding to the University of Ilorin where he bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Anatomy in 2003. He earned his MSc (Anatomy) from the University of Lagos in 2008 and crowned it with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anatomy from the University of Ilorin in 2013.

Professor Ukwenya is a member of professional bodies such as Anatomy Society of Nigeria (ASN); Society for Endocrinology and European Society of Endocrinologists (ESE). He has held several leadership positions in FUTA as well as membership of various committees.

Ukwenya has a lot of publications in learned journals to his credit and he’s happily married with children.
