Over 50 Nigerian students won scholarships and cash prizes totaling N200 million at the 22nd Annual National Mathematics Competition, organized by NTIC and NMC to celebrate excellence in mathematics.
More than 50 exceptional Nigerian pupils and students have been awarded scholarships and cash prizes totaling N200 million at the 22nd Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC), a landmark event celebrating academic excellence in mathematics.
Organized by the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) in partnership with the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), the competition spotlighted students in Primary 5 & 6 and Junior Secondary School who demonstrated outstanding problem-solving skills.
Among the primary school winners, Shedrack Udeh Jnr. from Diamond Special School, Imo State, clinched the gold medal. He was followed by Olasehinde Darasimi of Genius Tonic Heights School, Ondo (silver) and Ifeanyi Einstein from Pleroma International School, Rivers State (bronze).
In the junior secondary category, Jamalaldeen Tahir of Air Force Secondary School, Lagos emerged as the top performer. Kaetochukwu Uzoewulu of Hillrange Secondary School, Enugu, took silver, and Eghosa James of Beacon of Success School, Edo State, claimed the bronze medal.
The winners received cash prizes ranging from N100,000 to N500,000, along with partial or full tuition scholarships. Their schools and teachers were also honored with cash rewards between N100,000 and N400,000, as well as educational tools such as tablets, printers, and desktop computers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fevzullah Bilgin, Managing Director of NTIC, emphasized the institution’s dedication to nurturing talent in STEM fields.
“Our goal is to spark a love for mathematics in students from an early age. ANMC is one of the largest math contests in Nigeria, and it reflects our mission to encourage problem-solving skills vital for real-world challenges,” Bilgin said.
He noted that nearly 90 students currently benefit from the NTIC-ANMC full scholarship programme, fully funded by the school.
Erdal Yilmaz, ANMC Coordinator, added that the competition has become a powerful tool for identifying and nurturing academic talent across the country.
“These students reflect the incredible intellectual potential Nigeria holds. At NTIC, we are proud to offer platforms that not only challenge but also elevate students to greater academic heights,” he said.
