Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU) has signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ngaoundéré, Republic of Cameroon, to foster collaboration in academic exchange, research, and training activities.


The MoU was formalized during a recent visit by the Rector of the University of Ngaoundéré, Professor Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, accompanied by members of his management team. The visiting delegation was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor of MAU Yola, Professor Ibrahim Umar, alongside members of the university’s management.
As part of the visit, the two delegations paid a courtesy call to the Palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, where the Lamido offered prayers for a fruitful and enduring partnership between the two institutions.
Professor Umar also led the guests on a guided tour of the Fombina Palace Museum, giving them insight into the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Adamawa Emirate. The delegation was then taken around key facilities of the university, including:

Centre for Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Training (CEMIT)

Solar Farm Project
Chevron Biotechnology Centre DNA Lab

The Cameroonian team expressed satisfaction with the quality of infrastructure and resources at MAU, describing the facilities as “impressive and well-positioned for world-class academic and research activities.”
The highlight of the visit was the formal signing of the MoU, signifying a mutual commitment to collaborative programs in research, training, and academic development. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph to commemorate the landmark event.
To further deepen the engagement, Professor Ibrahim Umar later took the delegation on a visit to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), showcasing the university’s commitment to advancing medical and nursing education.
This partnership is expected to open new frontiers for academic exchange, joint research, and capacity building between Modibbo Adama University and the University of Ngaoundéré, reinforcing regional cooperation and development in higher education.
