AUST 10th Convocation Ceremony Date 2025 Announced

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), 10th Convocation Ceremony Schedule 2025 has been released.

Abuja, Nigeria – The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), a leading institution focused on advancing science, technology, and innovation in Africa, will celebrate the achievements of its Class of 2024 at its 10th Convocation Ceremony. The two-day event will be held at the university’s campus in Galadimawa, Abuja, showcasing academic excellence and groundbreaking innovation.


Convocation activities will begin on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 Pm with a Convocation Lecture to be delivered by Engr. Dr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, Ph.D, DIC, FNSE, FNIHTE, Director General and CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). Dr. Agbasi, an expert in infrastructure management, will speak on “Innovation and Sustainable Development in Public Works.”


The  convocation ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where degrees will be awarded to graduates in Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s (MSc), and Doctorate (PhD) programs. Honorary Doctorate Degrees will also be conferred on distinguished personalities.

Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote, Director General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), will deliver the Commencement Address. Her transformative contributions to digital identity systems and national development are expected to inspires the graduating class.


The event will feature a Keynote Address by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), who is the Special Guest of Honour. Her leadership in global trade and economic policy will provide valuable insights to attendees.

The ceremony will be chaired by Mr. Etigwe Uwa, SAN, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT). Other dignitaries in attendance will include, Ambassador Prof. Mohammadou Kah, Board Member, President of ECOWAS , Mr. Bonaventure Mbida Essama Board Member and CEO of the Nelson Mandela  Institute (NMI) and Jean-Louis Washington, Board Member.

The conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees will be the highlight of the ceremony. Honorees include Distinguished Senator George Akume; Secretary of the Government of the Federation(SGF),  Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote; Mr. Oliver Alawuba and  Alhaji Kashim Imam.

The convocation will also recognize entrepreneurship and innovation through the AUST Climate Change Innovation Challenge for Women-Led Startups. Winners will be honored by the AUSTInspire Business Incubation Hub, reflecting the university’s commitment to global problem-solving through innovative solutions.
