About the Global Institute for Infectious Disease Control (GIIDC), FULokoja: The Global Institute for Infectious Disease Control (GIIDC) at Federal University Lokoja aims to lead multidisciplinary, innovative research to tackle pressing health crises like tuberculosis, AIDS, and malaria, through its partnership with local and international stakeholders. It seeks to foster inclusive, evidence-based strategies for health equity, and engages diverse disciplines to advance sustainable global health solutions. GIIDC offers cutting-edge courses in its area of core mandate leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Science degrees.
Available Programmes: Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admissions into the under-listed postgraduate programmes of the Global Institute for Infectious Disease and Control under the College of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State for the 2024/2025 Academic Session:
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Health
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD in Community Health
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Environmental and Occupational Health
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Nutrition
- Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Molecular Biology and Genomics

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
(a) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
The Postgraduate Diploma Programme lasts for a minimum of two (2) Semesters and a maximum of four (4) Semesters. An applicant must possess a first degree not below a Third Class or an HND not below Lower Credit in a related discipline from a recognized institution, along with an NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate. A candidate must also have credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the O’ Level. HND graduates from relevant fields are encouraged to apply for the PGD Programme
(b) Master’s Degree
In addition to the O’ Level basic requirements as mentioned in (a) above, admission into the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme in Molecular Biology and Genomics shall be open to:
- All graduates of Nigerian Universities recognized by the Senate of FUL, who hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with a minimum of Second-Class Lower degree.
- Candidates who have an upper credit grade in PGD Microbiology of Federal University Lokoja or institutions recognized by the Senate of FULokoja.
- Other general requirements for admission into postgraduate programme in Federal University Lokoja as provided in the College of Postgraduate Studies guidelines not already mentioned may apply.
