JAMB Announces Mandatory Admission Status Declaration for 2026 UTME Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new policy requiring all candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to declare their current admission status; stating whether they are already enrolled in any tertiary institution.
According to the Board, the measure aims to curb impersonation and examination malpractice, following revelations from its 2025 UTME Infraction Report that over 90% of offenders were already students of tertiary institutions attempting to manipulate the system.
JAMB stressed that the UTME is strictly for candidates seeking fresh admission into higher institutions. It warned that any applicant who conceals or falsifies their admission status would face severe penalties, including withdrawal of previous admission, cancellation of registration, and possible prosecution under existing laws.
