A young Ghanian lady has been celebrated for making history as the first ever valedictorian of the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana.

Sarah Seyram Arhinful, a young African woman, made history as the first-ever valedictorian of the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana, after graduating with a perfect 4.00 GPA.

She earned a first-class bachelor’s degree in Ewe Education with a minor in English, marking a significant milestone as the institution’s first recipient of the valedictorian award, introduced during the university’s 27th convocation ceremony.

In her valedictory speech, Sarah expressed gratitude to God and her classmates, acknowledging the challenges they faced throughout their four-year journey.

Reflecting on the difficulties, including financial hardships, she celebrated the remarkable achievement of her graduating class.

Sarah began her academic journey at St. Francis College of Education in Hohoe, Ghana, where she earned a basic education diploma before advancing to the University of Education for her bachelor’s degree.

In 2021, she was one of three students selected for a semester abroad study program at University College Copenhagen in Denmark, and the only female participant from her college.

Currently, Sarah is an English teacher at a Junior High School in Adabraka, Ghana. She expressed deep gratitude to her mother for her unwavering support and to the university’s lecturers and staff.

Looking ahead, Sarah aspires to become a lecturer and hopes to secure a scholarship for further studies abroad.

She advised fellow students to focus on their studies, stay confident, and overcome challenges.
