NELFUND has warned students and the public to avoid a fake loan application website falsely claiming government endorsement, emphasizing that the only official portal is https://nelf.gov.ng.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a public warning about a fake student loan application portal currently being circulated online, falsely claiming authorization from President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND clarified that the fraudulent site — https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/ — is not affiliated with the organization and should be avoided.
“This website is entirely FAKE, and the claims being circulated are false and misleading,” Oluwatuyi said.
She emphasized that the only official website for NELFUND student loan applications is https://nelf.gov.ng.
The public, especially students and parents, are advised not to click on unverified links or provide personal or financial information on suspicious platforms.
“NELFUND is committed to a transparent, safe, and fair application process. All official announcements will be made only through our verified channels,” she added.
Anyone who comes across suspicious websites or messages is encouraged to report them to [email protected].
