Nigerian Student Breaks Guinness World Record with 50-Metre Robe Sleeves

27-year-old Nigerian student Samuel Chinecherem Ezeh set a Guinness World Record by designing a robe with 51.20-metre sleeves, earning mixed reactions online but showcasing Nigerian creativity and determination.

Samuel Chinecherem Ezeh, a 27-year-old Nigerian and final-year student at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, has officially earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for designing a robe with the longest sleeves ever made—measuring an astonishing 51.20 metres (167.97 feet).

According to a post shared by Guinness World Records, the robe sleeves are longer than the height of the Statue of Liberty and even exceed the length of an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Samuel, who is both a student and a self-taught fashion designer, shared that the project came with significant challenges. Despite this, he completed the creation and now hopes to take it on a global tour to showcase his extraordinary work.

“I wish to take it on a tour to display it in different countries and cities to show the world what it looks like,” Samuel said.

Social Media Reactions

As expected, the internet had mixed reactions:

  • Bulus: “They said he overcame a lot. It’s sounding like he climbed Mount Everest and sewed the robe in River Jordan. 😂 Apprentice fit do this thing na!”
  • Ayuba: “They should extend the Olympic pool. The next robe will need more space.”
  • Precious: “Some records feel unnecessary and don’t deserve the hype.”
  • Ayorinde: “The person wearing that robe will need a crew of 20 just to carry the sleeves!”

Regardless of public opinion, Samuel’s feat highlights the creativity and resilience of young Nigerians making their mark on the global stage.
