McPherson University has Secured the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) Approval to increased admission quota for Nursing Programme
In a landmark development, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has officially approved an increase in the admission quota for the Nursing Science department of McPherson University. This follows the university’s formal application and a thorough resource verification exercise conducted by the council earlier this year.
The Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Professor Francis Igbasan, made this announcement during a recent staff morning devotion. He revealed that the council had approved an increase in the department’s intake from 100 to 200 students. Although the university had initially requested a quota of 250, the approved figure marks a significant improvement and a positive step forward.
Describing the council’s decision as a “breakthrough,” Prof. Igbasan highlighted that the newly approved figure sets McPherson University apart from many other institutions. He emphasized that this development is a testament to the university’s high standards and its commitment to continuous growth and excellence in education.
Looking ahead, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the admission process for the 2025/2026 academic session will officially open next week. He disclosed that the university is aiming to admit up to 2,000 students across all departments in the upcoming academic year, urging staff members to prepare accordingly to meet this ambitious target.
In a strategic move to support the university’s enrollment goals, Prof. Igbasan encouraged staff to actively participate in student recruitment. He disclosed that financial incentives will be offered to staff members for each student they help bring into the university, adding that such incentives would be available to both students and external entity that recruit students to the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor also used the occasion to urge staff to embrace personal growth and professional development. He encouraged everyone to seize every opportunity for self-improvement, emphasizing that a culture of continuous learning is essential for institutional success.
