The authorities of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has revealed that they admitted less than 10,000 students for 2019/2020 session.

This was revealed in the University’s 2019/2020 Session Matriculation Ceremony blog post congratulating matriculating students.

The blog post reads: UNILAG MATRICULATES OVER 9,000 FRESHMEN

Although the title didn’t categorically state that they admitted below 10,000, its evident that if they more than 10,000 students, the blog title would have read UNILAG MATRICULATES OVER 10,000 FRESHMEN.

Recall that during the 2019 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB Policy meeting, the board’s registrar revealed that 74,713 candidates applied for admission into University of Lagos.

According to the blog post on the website, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, adviced new students to take their studies serious.

“In his address to the students, the Vice-Chancellor charged them to work assiduously at their academics, without neglecting their entrepreneurial and creative abilities.” the blog post reads.
