Prof Emmanuel A Adedokun Replaces Muhammad Shuaibu Umar as ABU’s IAIICT Director

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has approved the appointment of Prof Emmanuel A Adedokun as the new Director of Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT).

Adedokun, who teaches at the Department of Computer Engineering, replaces Malam Muhammad Shuaibu Umar.

Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor approved the appointment of Engr Ahmed Rufai Abubakar as Acting Head of Bulk Metering Unit.

Abubakar, who works at the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), will take over from Engr Dahiru Mu’azu Dalhat.

A letter conveying Prof Adedokun’s posting as IAIICT Director signed by the Vice-Chancellor said the appointment took effect from Monday, 16th June, 2025.

The letter also said the appointment was in recognition of his administrative and leadership qualities.

While advising him to be honest and fair in all his official dealings, the Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that the new IAIICT Director would uplift the institute and the university in this capacity.

Engr Ahmed Rufai Abubakar’s appointment as Acting Head of Bulk Metering Unit also takes effect from Monday, 16th June, 2025.

The Vice-Chancellor said in a letter conveying his posting that his appointment would be for a period of six months.

The letter also said the appointment was in recognition of his research, energy and academic leadership qualities.

The Vice-Chancellor urged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the service of the university energy infrastructure.
