NSCDC has arrested a student who tried to kidnap the Provost of the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, Niger State.


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested an 18-year-old student for attempting to kidnap the provost of the College of Fisheries, New Bussa, Niger State, GazetteNg reports.
Confirming the report, Nasir Abdullahi, the NSCDC’s spokesman in Niger, said in the student was arrested on August 10.

The NSCDC said the student conspired with another person, now at large, to write a letter threatening to kidnap the provost if he failed to pay a ransom.
Mr Nasir, however, said the suspect did not demand any particular amount before NSCDC operatives arrested him.
The spokesman added that the student had been arraigned before a chief magistrates court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and intimidation.
