Three University of Lagos students at the College of Medicine are currently facing allegations of sexual assault. This accusations was first made on X by purported students of the Institution.

Students at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UNILAG) are facing allegations of sexual assault.
Anonymous accounts from purported students detailed several cases on X, alleging inaction by the university. The purported victims used the hashtag “#EndSACultureInCMUL” on Monday and Tuesday, generating media attention.
An activist at the university speaking with TheCable stated that the cases include one incident in March 2024 involving a 200-level Pharmacy male student and a 200-level Medicine female student, and another in late June between a 300-level Pharmacy male student and a 200-level Radiography female student.
Another cited case involves a 600-level male Medicine student, alleged to be a serial offender, and multiple female students from different levels.
The source also told TheCable that the first case was reported to the university’s student affairs division in March but received a “concrete” response.
The university’s student body reportedly only fined the alleged serial offender ₦5,000.
“The second incident happened recently, just last week, triggering public outrage again,” the source said in a text. “It was bound to happen since nothing was done about the previous cases. This has now been escalated to the faculty and university management.”
Details about each case remain unclear as most victims refuse to engage with the press for fear of university sanctions.
In a statement, UNILAG management asked the victims to make official reports to the student affairs unit.
“The management has seen reports of sexual misconduct among students circulating on social media,” the statement reads.
“We empathise with victims of these reports and invite them to make official reports to the office of the dean, Student Affairs Division at the University of Lagos’ Akoka campus.“The management wishes to inform our students, their parents/guardians, and other stakeholders of the university’s continued firm stance against injustice. Indeed, the University of Lagos has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct and related vices.”
The university management assured that an investigation would be conducted on these sexual misconduct cases in pursuit of justice.
