CURSORY : Unilag post graduate students’ graduation gown has reportedly been stolen, ahead of the convocation ceremony.


According to management of the university of lagos (Unilag) the graduation gown for the post graduate students have gone missing.
It was reported by leadership that the gown was stolen, thereby leading to a delay in the forthcoming 54th convocation ceremony of the institution.
It was reported that the gowns for the postgraduate ceremony which the students were asked to pay 15k each for, was stolen while it was being transported in the university’s school bus.
During the convocation ceremony, a total of 340 will be awarded with a first-class degree certificate.
Although many of the students were eager to receive their graduation gown, they have been affected by the recent development, causing them disappointment.
The gown which were already paid for, were scheduled to be delivered in preparation for the ceremony before the tragic incident occurred, leaving the students in frustration.
Meanwhile, the management of university’s School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) has made the setback known to the postgraduate students through their email address and SMS.
The message reads: “Dear graduate, we regret to inform you that the distribution of SPGS academic gowns is now suspended. Sadly, the remaining gowns were stolen, and our bus vandalised this afternoon.”
One of the affected individuals, named lawyer Malachy Odo has shared his disappointment on his X handle.He said he got the text message of the incident after he had already paid for the convocation gown oyn full.
He said “I paid 15k for convocation gown yesterday and this is what UNILAG just sent me. This country is not a real place.
