Itofa Ivarah, a brilliant Nigerian scholar, has successfully earned a Master’s degree in International Development, Global Affairs, and Management from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, fully funded by the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.
The Chevening Scholarship, a highly competitive program, covers tuition, accommodation, visa fees, and travel expenses, offering scholars a life-changing opportunity to pursue advanced studies abroad.
Sharing his journey on LinkedIn, Itofa reflected on his transformative experience at the University of Bradford’s School of Peace Studies, Law, and Management. He noted that the program enriched his expertise in policy analysis, governance, and global development.
For his dissertation, Itofa explored the impact of foreign aid in developing countries, using Nigeria as a case study. His research critically analyzed how aid influences Nigeria’s healthcare and education sectors, highlighting its effectiveness and challenges. Additionally, he examined Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and advocated for Corporate Shared Value (CSV), a concept championed by Michael Porter, as a more sustainable model for global development.
Reflecting on his journey, Itofa expressed deep gratitude to the Chevening Awards, his professors, and his family, particularly his wife, Grace T. Oladipo, for their unwavering support.
“The past year has thoroughly prepared me for the next phase of my career. I am immensely grateful to Chevening Awards for giving me new wings to fly and to my professors for helping me view development through a deeper lens,” he wrote.
