FUBK Gets New Registrar and Four Professors.

The Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has approved the appointment of Barr. Abdukadir Abubakar as the new Registrar of the University for a term of 5 years. Under the leadership of the Pro Chancellor and Chairman (Rtd), the Council, consisting of Aminu Rtd., recommended from the Joint Senate and Selection Board, gave the approval at its 29th meeting, held on Thursday May 22, 2025.

Barr. Abdukadir holds a Master of Law Degree in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom (2012). He obtained a Bachelor of Law in Common and Islamic Laws from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in 2004. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2009. He attended Government Day Secondary School, Zuru and Government Technical College, Zuru (1992), as well as Dantudu Gomo Model Primary School, Zuru (1985).

The new Registrar comes with 18 years work experience with the University system. He joined the services of Federal University Birnin Kebbi as Senior Assistant Registrar in 2015 and rose to become a Deputy Registrar in 2022. He previously served as Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Legal Studies, College of Basic and Advanced Studies, Yelwa-Yauri (2005-2007), as well as Administrative Officer at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (2007-2015).

Until his appointment as the new Registrar FUBK, Abdukadir was a Deputy Registrar and the Head of Legal Unit in the University. He served as TETFund Desk Officer (Staff Training and Development) and Assistant Secretary to Council. He also served as Secretary and Asst. Secretary of over 30 Committees in the Institution. He was born on August 13, 1973 and is married with children.

In another development, the Council approved the promotions of 4 academic staff to the ranks of Professor and three to Associate Professor (Reader).

The newly promoted Professors are Dr. Bello Bala Diggi (Intellectual History), Dr. Mohammed Bashar Danlami (Virology), Dr. Muhammad Muazu Yusuf (Development Economics) and Dr. Yahaya Tajudeen Olarenwaju (Cell Biology and Genetics).

The Associate Professors (Readers), on the other hand, are Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, Department of Business Administration; Dr. Abdullah Umar, Department of Geography and Dr. Ali Sheriff Kabara from Accounting Department.

The appointments of Professors Bello Diggi and Bashar Danlami take effect from 1st January 2024, while those of Professors Muazu Yusuf and Tajudeen Olarenwaju is effective January 1, 2025.
