UI PG College Stands as a Beacon of Excellence in Higher Education – VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof K. O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, has described the Postgraduate College of the University as a beacon of excellence in higher education, leading the charge in transforming higher education in Nigeria.

Established in 1976, he stated that the College which has remained in the forefront of postgraduate education in Nigeria has consistently produced top tier scholars and researchers who have made significant contributions to academia, industry and policy-making.

The Vice Chancellor made this statement at the ceremonies for the award of Higher degrees, during the 77th Convocation and Foundation Day ceremonies of the University of Ibadan.

The ceremonies, held from Friday, 14 November to Saturday, 15 November 2025, brought together thousands of guests, families, friends, and well-wishers in celebration of the academic achievements of postgraduate scholars.

A total of 3,596 graduands were conferred with higher degrees, including 22 Master of Philosophy degrees, 2,690 academic Master’s degrees and 273 professional Master’s degrees after fulfilling the rigorous requirements of their programmes, advancing knowledge and expertise in their fields.

In addition, 73 Master of Science graduates of the Pan-African University Life and Earth Science Institute (including Health and Agriculture), (PAULESI), which is domiciled on the University of Ibadan Campus were also conferred with higher degrees.

The Vice Chancellor congratulated the graduands, wishing them greater success in the future. He encouraged them to leverage their academic and professional expertise to contribute meaningfully to national and global development and to serve as ambassadors of the University’s values in every field of endeavor.
