REVEALED: 3,963 Teachers Fail Qualifying Exam, Many Involved in Exam Malpractice

During an exam held by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), about 3,963 teachers failed the qualifying exam; TRCN provides complete breakdown of results.

On Monday, December 18, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which is in charge of the nationwide 2023 professional qualifying examination for teachers, made an announcement that revealed widespread failure from the teachers.

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) administered the November 2023 Professional Qualifying Examination for Teachers around the nation, and the qualifying exam was held at 38 different centers.

But unfortunately, about 3,963 teachers out of almost 15,000 who took the examination failed. This information was released by the TRCN, which is in charge of evaluating the professional expertise of those working as teachers.

Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of TRCN, stated that the council is still dedicated to raising the standard of the teaching profession in Nigeria at a news conference on Monday, December 18.

According to Punch, Prof Ajibola said: “A total of 15,753 sat the examination in 38 Centres across the country, out of this, we have 10,636 that passed which is about 72.9 per cent and those that failed are 3,963.”

He added that some applicants did not show up, and others had their exam results cancelled because they had committed exam malpractice.

The November session reportedly began on November 23, 2023, and ended on November 25, 2023.
