The Lagos state government has ordered the immediate closure of Chrisland school, in Opebi-Ikeja after a 12-year-old student, Whytney Adeniran, was allegedly electrocuted to death during the school inter-house sports.

The parents of the student had taken to social media to demand justice for their deceased child after the school management denied knowing what led to the sudden death of the student on Thursday, February 9.
Voice messages alleged to have been recorded by students of the school gave a vivid description of what led to Whyney’s death. According to the recordings, Whyney was electrocuted by a candy floss machine during the sporting event, and when she fell to the ground, she was poured water in a bid to revive her. She was eventually rushed to the Agege health center where she was confirmed dead by medics.
The Lagos state government, on Sunday evening, directed that the school be closed pending the outcome of an investigation into the unfortunate incident.
