A Nigerian woman who secured a fully funded scholarship to attend a prestigious tech event in London has been denied a visa by the embassy, citing concerns that she would not return to Nigeria after the conference.
Sharing her experience on social media, she revealed that despite receiving full sponsorship, her visa application was rejected. She also provided photo evidence of her scholarship award to support her claims.
Expressing her disappointment, she wrote, “I got a fully funded scholarship to attend a tech event in London, but my visa was denied. One of the reasons given was that I wouldn’t return to my country after the event.” With less than ten days left before the event and a visa processing time of fifteen days, she pleaded for an appeal, emphasizing how significant the opportunity was for her career.
Her story quickly gained attention online, sparking reactions from concerned individuals who criticized the decision. Many questioned how the embassy concluded that she would not return, calling the rejection unfair. Some encouraged her to seek alternative solutions, while others expressed frustration over similar visa denials affecting young professionals.

As discussions continue, her case highlights the challenges many Nigerians face when seeking international opportunities, even when fully funded and well-documented.
