Northwest University Sokoto Registration Procedure 2025/2026 academic session.


The management of Northwest University, Sokoto wishes to inform all newly admitted students that the registration process consists of eleven (11) clearly defined stages. Every newly admitted student is required to follow these steps in the exact order to complete their registration successfully, secure their admission, and obtain full academic clearance for the session
STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON STUDENT REGISTRATION
1.0 Procedure for Student Registration
The registration process involves eleven (11) key stages, as detailed below:
2.1. Verification of Credentials (NEW STUDENTS ONLY):
Prospective students present original academic certificates (e.g., WAEC/NECO, NABTEB) and the provisional admission letter for physical verification against the uploaded documents used during the online application. The Admissions Officer confirms the authenticity and compliance of the application with the programme’s entry requirements.
2.2. Issuance of Confirmation Letter After Payment of Acceptance Fee (New students ONLY):
Upon successful credential verification, the student is directed to make the non-refundable acceptance fee payment at the designated bank. The student presents the payment evidence (bank receipt) to the Admissions Office, where a Confirmation of Admission Letter is issued, formally securing their place.
2.3. Payment for Medicals:
The student proceeds to pay the mandatory Preregistration medical investigations fee as stipulated. The payment receipt is a prerequisite for the subsequent medical screening at the University Clinic.
2.4. Confirmation of School Fees Payment by the Bursar (Both Returning and New Students):
The student pays 60% minimum of the prescribed tuition and other compulsory fees. The Bursary Department (Bursar specifically) verifies and confirms the payment, stamping or signing the student’s registration form/portal slip. This step is critical for academic clearance.
2.5. Issuance of Admission Package (Course Registration Forms, Form 02) by the Admission Officer (both Returning and New students):
With proof of school fees payment, the student collects a physical Admission Package (New students). This typically includes the four students’ files, the Course Registration form, Form 02, the Oath form, the student handbook, and other orientation materials. However, the returning students only collect the Course Registration form and Form 02.
2.6. Endorsement by the Academic Secretary:
The student’s completed registration form and documents are presented for review. The Academic Secretary’s office provides the final administrative endorsement from the central registry, affirming that all university-level requirements have been met.
2.7. Departmental Registration:
The student reports to their Department. The Departmental Registration Officer or Head of Department verifies the student’s programme, approves course selection for the semester, and provides the departmental stamp/signature on the registration form. The student is assigned an Academic Advisor.
2.8. Faculty/College Registration:
The College Secretary/Faculty Dean or representative reviews the departmental endorsement and provides the College/Faculty’s final approval. This step integrates the student into the faculty’s records and completes the academic chain of registration.
2.9. Clinic Registration (Medical Screening):
The student presents the medical fee receipt for registration. They undergo mandatory preliminary health screening (e.g., medical history, basic checks). Upon completion, the clinic stamps the registration form, and the student is issued a health card.
2.10. Library Registration:
As the final step, the student presents their fully endorsed registration form at the library. The library captures the student’s biometrics/photograph and issues the Student Identity Card, which also serves as the library access card. This completes the registration process.
2.11 Hostel Accommodation
Any student desirous of hostel accommodation must collect the bed space request form from the office of the Dean of Student Affairs, fill out and submit the completed form for vetting. ONLY a successful applicant will proceed to make payment for hostel accommodation.
