Panic as UK Set to Ban Nigerian Students, Others From Bringing Family Members Over

Cursory: The UK government has put in place a scheme to prevent overseas students from bringing their families to the country, including Nigerian students. According to a report that will be revealed on Thursday, the decision to transfer was made necessary since official net migration estimates increased by an astounding one million. The restriction would also apply to all students applying for Master’s degrees and other postgraduate degrees.

An immigration crackdown that was announced this week will prohibit the majority of foreign students from bringing family members to the country, according to an exclusive story by The Sun UK.

The crackdown, which will prohibit all master’s students and many other postgraduates from bringing family members here, will reportedly be announced this week; surprisingly, Nigerian students will be impacted.

The UK Media House said that PHD students, whose degrees typically last between three and five years and are very highly trained, will not be subject to the prohibition.

This follows the reports that net migration into the UK has skyrocketed to 1 million with Tory MPs asking the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, “to get a grip on the rocketing numbers.”

UK authorities are reportedly planning to launch the immigration crackdown on Tuesday, May 23, or Wednesday, May 24, in an effort to stem the tide of rising numbers.

According to a Tory MP who spoke to The Sun on Sunday, “Rishi Sunak is expected to come out fighting on immigration, pointing out they are figures he inherited as they date back to the year ending December 2022, two months after he became PM.”

A Nigerian guy responded to the development on Twitter. The tweeter known only as Dr. Dp. Awójdé @OgbeniDipo stated,

“For those already in the UK , plan, plan and plan some more! What will you do if they remove the post-study work (PSW) visa next year? Think ahead! And plan, plan, plan! Don’t sleep with your two eyes closed. Watch, shadow and stay guarded.”
