The 38th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calabar is hereby announced for the benefit of the general public and for graduands of the University. 

Programme of Activities

  • DAY 1: THURSDAY, 2nd APRIL, 2026
  • Event: Press Conference by the Vice Chancellor
  • Time: 10.00 a.m.
  • Venue: Council Chamber, University of Calabar, Calabar
  • DAY 2: TUESDAY, 7th APRIL, 2026
  • 1st Event: Inter-Denominational Service
    • Venue: St. Paul’s Catholic Church, University of Calabar, Calabar
    • Time: 10.00 a.m.
  • 2nd Event: Research Fair and Exhibition
    • Venue: Hogan Bassey Parking Lot, University of Calabar
    • Time: 12.00 noon – 6.00 p.m.
  • DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, 8th APRIL, 2026
  • 1st Event: Meeting of Convocation
    • Venue: Senator Godswill Akpabio Conference Centre, University of Calabar, Calabar
    • Time: 10.00 a.m.
  • DAY 4: THURSDAY, 9th APRIL, 2026
  • 1st Event: Convocation Lecture
    • Convocation Lecturer: Major General Garba Ayodeji
    • Topic: “Redefining National Security in an Era of Endemic Insecurity: The Role of Security Institutions”
    • Venue: Senator Godswill Akpabio Conference Centre, University of Calabar

  • 2nd Event: Command Performance
    • Venue: Chinua Achebe Arts Theatre, University of Calabar, Calabar

  • 1st Event: Award of Diplomas, First Degrees & Masters / Induction into Alumni
    • Venue: Unical Sports Complex (Orie Stadium), University of Calabar
    • Time: 10.00 a.m.
  • 2nd Event: Gala Night for all Ph.D graduates/their Supervisors
    • Time: 7.00 p.m.
    • Venue: Hall of Fame, University of Calabar, Calabar
  • DAY 6: SATURDAY, 11th APRIL, 2026
  • Event: Award of Postgraduate Degrees / Conferment of Honorary Degrees / Induction of Professor Emeritus / Launching of Endowment Fund / Induction into Alumni
  • Venue: Senator Godswill Akpabio Conference Centre, University of Calabar
  • Time: 10.00 a.m.
  • DAY 7: SUNDAY, 12th APRIL, 2026
  • Event: Thanksgiving Service

INFORMATION FOR GRADUANDS

Academic Gowns
Gowns are to be obtained from presentation of payment of the Faculty for the gown. Gowns not returned by Monday, 13th April, 2026 will attract a fine of N1,000.00 each.

Outright Purchase of Academic Gowns
(i) For Postgraduate School Graduates, the following will apply:
(i) Ph.D gowns = N105,000.00 each
(ii) Masters gowns = N100,000.00 each

(ii) Hiring of Academic gowns
(i) Masters gowns = N100,000.00 each
(ii) Ph.D Scroll = N70,000.00 each
(iii) Endowment Fund: N9,000.00
(iv) Ph.D (ii) Masters Fund = N5,000.00

(iii) Ph.D Dinners = N20,000.00 each

Please note that all academic gowns hired from the Graduate School must be returned within seven (7) days from the date of issue. Defaulters will be sanctioned as appropriate.

(iv) Invitation Cards for Parents/Guardians
Every Ph.D/Masters graduand shall be issued one invitation card by the Faculty Officers to enable one guest attend.

(v) Protocol
The Convocation Procession will adhere strictly to the Kefi Protocol for the conduct of Convocation.
Graduands should robe and join the procession in their various Faculties. Graduands should not be allowed into the convocation ground. Photographs will not be allowed at the procession.

(vi) Prizes and Awards
Prizes and Awards will be announced and presented to winners at the Convocation.

(vii) Alumni Membership Registration
Graduands are expected to complete registration forms for alumni membership registration with the Registration Officers and pay membership registration fee.
