The 37th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calabar is hereby announced for the benefit of the general public and for graduands of the University.

DAY 1: MONDAY, 17TH MARCH, 2025
Event: Press Conference by the Vice Chancellor

DAY 2: TUESDAY, 18TH MARCH, 2025

• 1st Event: Inter-Denominational Service
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.
  • Venue: University Chapel
• 2nd Event: Research Fair and Exhibition
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.
  • Venue: Tonnies Court

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, 19TH MARCH, 2025

• 1st Event: Meeting of Convocation (Alumni)
  • Time: 9:00 a.m.
  • Venue: Unical Inn Conference Centre
• 2nd Event: Alumni Reunion Activities (Unical @50)
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
  • Venue: Malabor Republic

Event: Research Fair and Exhibition (continues)

• 1st Event: 50th Anniversary/Convocation Lecture
  • Guest Lecturer: His Excellency, H.E. Benjamin Kalu (CON), Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja
  • Topic: “One Voice to the World: Cybernetics, Sustainable and Human Centred Education, The Mandate of our Universities, 2025-2075”
  • Time: 11:00 noon

• 2nd Event: Awards and Fund Raising

• 3rd Event: Command Performance

DAY 5: FRIDAY, 21ST MARCH, 2025

• Inauguration of Transition Committee

• Award of First Degrees & Diplomas/Induction into Unical Alumni

DAY 6: SATURDAY, 22ND MARCH, 2025

• Event: Award of Postgraduate & Honorary Degrees, Investiture of Alumni Professor/Induction into Unical Alumni

DAY 6: SUNDAY, 23RD MARCH, 2025

• Event: Thanksgiving Convocation Service

INFORMATION TO GRADUANDS

(a)Academic Gowns

Gowns are to be obtained from the Faculty Officers on presentation of evidence of payment for the gown. Gown and hoods are to be collected by March 20, 2025, till 11:00 a.m. on the day of Convocation.

For Post Graduate School Graduands, the following will apply:

1)  Outright Purchase of Academic Gowns

• Ph.D gowns N100,000.00
  each
• Masters gowns

(2) Hiring of Academic Gowns

• Masters/PGDs gowns = N25,000.00 each

Please note that all academic gowns hired from the Graduate School must be returned within seven (7) days from the date of the convocation. Defaulters will be sanctioned as apappropriate.

(a.)  Invitation Cards for Parents/Guardians

• Two invitations cards per graduand will be issued by the Faculty Officers. Each graduand is entitled to two guests. 

(b)Procession

• The Convocation Procession will adhere strictly to the Keffi Protocol for the conduct of Convocation.
• Graduands should robe and join the procession in their various Faculties. Graduands who do not robe will not be allowed into the convocation grounds. Photographers will not be allowed at the procession. All photographs will be taken after the convocation. 

(c)Prizes and Awards

• Prizes and Awards will be announced during the convocation. Recipients will collect their awards/prize value on presentation of a letter of award at the University Bursary. 

(d)Alumni Membership Registration

• Graduands will be expected to complete registration forms for alumni membership from their Faculty Officers and pay membership registration fee.
