UNILAG Radiography Programme to Get RRBN Professional Accreditation

UNILAG Radiography Programme to Get RRBN Professional Accreditation

Good news awaits recent graduates of the Radiography Department at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), as the department is set to receive professional accreditation from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).

This development comes after a visit of the RRBN’s accreditation team to the University

Led by its Registrar/CEO, Prof. Mark Okeji, the accreditation team presented its findings to the University Management after inspecting key facilities, including the Radiography section of the University Library, and the Radiography Department at the Yaba campus, and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

At the team’s exit meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Prof. Okeji commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS for the significant progress made since the Board’s last visit.

He, however, highlighted a few areas that required improvement and suggested that the University considers introducing postgraduate (PG) programmes, given the high demand for advanced radiography certification in Nigeria.

In addition, the RRBN Registrar disclosed that professional examinations of the Board will hold from Monday, May 26 to May 27, 2025, with the induction of new Radiographers scheduled for the first week of June 2025.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the Board’s verdict and pledged to address the recommendations.

This milestone follows last year’s setback when the Radiography programme at the University of Lagos temporarily lost accreditation.
