UNIZIK AVC Continues to Crack Down On Admission Racketeering as Two Staff Members Were Recently Nabbed

UNIZIK AVC Continues to Crack Down On Admission Racketeering as Two Staff Members Were Recently Nabbed.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, has cracked yet another admission racketeering within the institution.

Two staff members of the University, Mr. Ekene Okeke (Fuel Surveillance Unit) and Mrs. Nkiru Okonkwo (Council Unit), Registry, were caught collecting the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) from one Miss Nwangwu Chiamaka Victoria to offer her admission in 2024/2025 Academic Session into the Faculty of Medicine.

However, the deal was renegotiated for admission into Environmental Health Science.

The victim, Miss Victoria Nwangwu, who made the payment, reported the matter to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, who ordered the Chief Safety Officer, Chief Ken Chukwurah, for an investigation.

Reacting to the report of the investigation, the Acting Vice-Chancellor ordered the culprits to return the one million naira latest tomorrow, 5th November, 2025.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor further reiterated the University’s policy on admission emphasizing that “ADMISSION IS FREE”.

The matter, she assured, would be referred to the appropriate disciplinary Committee and the University community awaits the outcome.

The decisive action is to once more sound a note of warning to those who engage in the attitude of tarnishing the image of the University and, in furtherance, who may be tempted to engage in similar acts of corruption.

The Chief Officer, Mr. Ken Chukwurah, has received Commendation from the Acting Vice-Chancellor for his unreserved commitment to duty.
