Similarly, it approved the notification of thesis/dissertation titles and appointment of examiners for 120 candidates from 13 faculties.
The two approvals followed the recommendations of the School of Postgraduate Studies Board arising from the board’s 340th meeting.
The Senate also commended members of the School of Postgraduate Studies Board for their dedication towards ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the board.
All these were contained in the Resolutions of the 539th (Regular) Meeting of the Senate of Ahmadu Bello University that was held on Thursday, 29th August, 2024.
Equally, the Senate commended members of the Senate Standing Committee for their diligence in attendance of meetings and urged them to keep up the good work.
It ratified the list of graduating students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine administratively approved to enable the students to fulfil the requirements of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria oath-taking.
The Senate also approved the lists of graduating students from the Faculties of Education, Engineering, Environmental Design, and Pharmaceutical Sciences as recommended by the Senate Standing Committee.
It further approved the examinations misconduct cases from the faculties of Arts, Engineering, Environmental Design, and Life Sciences as recommended by the Senate Standing Committee.
The Senate, however, expressed “deep concern” at the rate at which cases of examinations misconduct are increasingly being reported, and expressed the need to put “more emphasis on preventive measures to minimise” the incidences.
It urged for additional publicity on the provisions of the University Examinations Management/Examinations Regulations for both staff and students in order to reduce the cases of the examinations misconduct.
