The foundation founded by an alumnus of the university, Mr. Ajiroghene Omanudhowo who established ASAP the first food delivery service in FUTA, is aimed at supporting young students. Its mandate among other things is to inspire students regardless of their socioeconomic levels to find a greater purpose by providing access to scholarships, youth coaching, and mentoring programs.
The 3rd edition of the project which took effect from 4th September 2023, had a total of 133 applications from students of the university culminating in the selection of the five beneficiaries.
Speaking at the presentation of the prize award to the winners, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji said it was heartwarming that FUTA alumni are passionate about giving back to the university adding that it was culture that has contributed to building a symbiotic relationship between the university and its alumni.
The Vice Chancellor pointed out that these are not the best of times to give and that any donation made is borne out of love and sacrifice.
She commended the foundation for the gesture describing the gesture as magnanimous and worthy of emulation. She admonished the awardees to use the scholarship judiciously and also be determined to reciprocate the gesture when they are in the positive to do so.
Professor Oladiji urged them to continue to prove themselves worthy of the scholarship and to strive to be good ambassadors of the university.
On his part the Dean, Students Affairs Professor David Oke commended FUTA alumni for always rising to the occasion of building the university through the execution of many projects and scholarships to students. He thanked the Selection Committee for doing a thorough job and was optimistic that the scholarship will aid the students in achieving some of their goals.
Earlier while introducing the scope of the scholarship, the Project Coordinator, Mr. John Ogundijo said the aim of the scholarship was to aid industrious students in building their businesses. He said the project was conceptualized by Mr. Omanudhowo who was also an entrepreneur while he was a student and understood the challenges faced by student entrepreneurs.
