BUK Disclaimer on Fake N50,000 Payment Circular Targeting Students

BUK Disclaimer on Fake N50,000 Payment Circular Targeting Students

The attention of the Management of Bayero University, Kano has been drawn to a fake circular currently circulating on social media platforms, directing students – particularly those from the former Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies – to pay the sum of N50,000 on or before 1 December 2025.

The forged message is purportedly signed by one Saifullahi Dahiru, “For Registrar.”

For clarity, the fake circular specifically mentioned the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Languages, Linguistics and Theatre Arts
  • Faculty of History and Development Studies
  • Faculty of Islamic Studies and Sharia
(formerly part of the old Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies)

The University wishes to categorically state that:

  • The circular is FAKE.
  • No such payment has been approved, announced, or authorised by any legitimate organ of the University.
  • Students should ignore the message in its entirety, as it did not originate from the Office of the Registrar or any other official source.
  • Bayero University, Kano does not communicate financial obligations through random social media posts, nor through individuals who have no mandate to speak for the institution.

We advise all students, parents, and the general public to remain vigilant and to always verify information through our official communication channels, including the University website, Directorate of Public Affairs, and recognised faculty offices.

The University remains committed to protecting its community from misinformation and will not hesitate to take necessary measures against those attempting to mislead or exploit students.

For clarity and guidance, please rely solely on official announcements.
