The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating bullying in schools by intensifying the implementation of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying to ensure every Nigerian child learns in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
The renewed commitment was reinforced during a sensitisation workshop organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). The initiative supports the vision of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, to strengthen school safety, promote students’ well-being and ensure secure learning environments nationwide.
Speaking at the event, UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, represented by Deputy Executive Secretary Hon. Olajuwon Rasaq Akinyemi, urged students to embrace the campaign message, “If you see something, say something,” encouraging victims and witnesses to report bullying without fear.
The Ministry noted that sustained awareness campaigns and stronger implementation of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying have already contributed to a decline in reported bullying cases across schools.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening stakeholder collaboration, improving reporting mechanisms and ensuring effective implementation of anti-bullying measures to protect learners and promote safe, inclusive and learner-friendly schools in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
