FUDMA Digitalises Hostel Allocation System.

In a major stride toward modernisation, the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has transitioned from a reported login difficulties, prompting the University manual to fully digital hostel application system, ensuring a seamless, transparent and merit-based hostel accommodation allocation process for students.

In an exclusive interview with FUDMA Weekly Bulletin, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Ghazali Garba, highlighted the inefficiencies of the previous manual system which required students to endure long queues and physical confrontations at the manual process was stressful for both students and staff. He said stressing that “We first introduced a semi-digital first-come, first-served basis”. The hostel portal opened at 8:00 AM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, to ensure equal access. By 9:00 AM, all on-campus spaces were fully booked. However, Dr. Garba assured students that “alternative accommodations are available at Her Excellency Olusola Obada Hall (Isa Kaita) and King Jaja Hostel (Hayin Gada)”, which still have vacancies.

According to him, “the new system ensures fairness, eliminating favouritism by operating on a first-come, first-served basis”. The hostel portal opened at 8:00 AM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, to ensure equal access. By 9:00 AM, all on-campus spaces were fully booked. However, Dr. Garba assured students that “alternative accommodations are available at Her Excellency Olusola Obada Hall (Isa Kaita) and King Jaja Hostel (Hayin Gada)”, which still have vacancies.

“Olusola Obada Hall is equipped with modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, backup power, DSTV and sports amenities like tennis and a football pitch. Free transportation to campus is also provided”, he added.

In a ground breaking move, FUDMA has, for the first time, allocated exclusive hostel spaces for postgraduate students – Registrar Hall for female students and Yandaka Sada Hall (Abuja Road), for male students – addressing previous concerns about mixed accommodations.
