The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), during its 22nd Regular Meeting, which held between March 19 and 20, 2025, has approved the unbundling of the University’s College of Medicine.

With this development comes a new college to be known as the College of Health Sciences.
The new college shall have four faculties consisting of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science and Faculty of Radiography and Applied Health Science.
According to a statement issued by the Registrar of FULafia and Secretary of the Governing Council, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the need to unbundle the former college of medicine into two colleges, namely, College of Medicine and College of Health Sciences, became necessary to streamline and facilitate administrative processes in the University.
The initiative, the statement added, would also facilitate better resource allocation and allow development of new programmes in both colleges.
