A total of eight thousand, one hundred and fifty four students (8,154) matriculated on Saturday March 29th, 2025 during the 16th Matriculation Ceremony of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Rumuolumeni Port-Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria which held at the university auditorium at main campus.


Acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE Professor Okechuku Onuchuku while speaking at the ceremony charged the students to shun cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices. He reiterated that theirain activity remains to study and obey university rules and regulations.
Professor Onuchuku equally charged Parents and Guardians to support their children and Wards by paying their school fees and other charges promptly, monitor their academic performance always and assist the University maintain adequate security.
While congratulating the students for their success in the admission selection procedure, the Acting Vice Chancellor also congratulated Parents, guardians and Sponsors for their success in the selection process and promised that the University would help them to succeed in their search for quality higher education that would prepare them to fit in, in the 21st century knowledge driven economy.
Established by the University Education Law No 8, 2009, the University has three Campuses at Rumuolumeni, St John and Ndele. It has seven Faculties namely Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences with eight Departments ( Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Management, Office and Information Management, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Human Resource Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management), Faculty of Agriculture with three Departments (Agriculture Economics and Extension, Animal Science and Fishery/Acquaculture and Crop and Soil Science), Faculty of Education with sixteen Departments (Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Educational Foundation, Educational Management, Educational Curriculum, Educational Technology, Special Education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, Adult Education, Library and Information Science, Human Kinetics, Health and Safety Education, Human Kinetics, Health and Safety Education Science Education and Social Science Education), Faculty of Humanities with eleven Departments ( English and Communication Art, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Fine and Applied Arts, Foreign Languages and International studies, Theatre and Film Studies, History and Diplomatic Studies, Music, Religious and Cultural Studies, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Philosophy), Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences with ten Departments ( Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Integrated Science, Geophysics, Industrial Chemistry, Software Engineering and Statistics), Faculty of Social Sciences with eight Departments (Economics, Geography and Environmental Studies, Political Science, Sociology/Social Studies, Social Works, Petroleum Economy and Policy Studies, Public Administration and Library and Information Science, Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education with three Departments ( Agricultural Science Education, Home Economics, Hospitality and Tourism Education and Technical Education).
Out of the 8, 154 students that matriculated, 7,975 came in through UTME, 250 through Direct Entry (A’level ), 6, 884 are Regular students, 1,219 are Part-Time students while 51 students are for Institute for Distance Learning (IDL).
