OAUSTECH Secures NUC Approval for New Academic Programmes

Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, Nigeria, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch three new undergraduate programmes and higher degrees in two departments.

The approval was contained in a letter dated 23rd October, 2025 and signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar M. Girei on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.

The approved undergraduate programmes include:

  • BSc Cyber Security
  • BSc Marine Science
  • BSc Meteorology

The postgraduate programmes approved are:

  • Postgraduate Diploma, M. Eng and PhD Civil Engineering
  • Postgraduate Diploma, M. Eng and PhD Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, described the NUC approval as a “testament to the University’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.” He stated that the new programmes would provide students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge, enabling them to compete globally. He thanked the NUC for the approval and urged the University community to work together to ensure the success of the new programmes.

The University’s Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Cecilia Oluwamodupe, expressed delight at the development, citing it as a significant milestone that would enhance the University’s visibility. She commended the University’s leadership, particularly Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, and the Governing Council led by Professor Akinbo Adesomoju.

The new programmes, especially Marine Science, are expected to benefit the coastal community by providing lucrative career opportunities. OAUSTECH will begin admitting students into the undergraduate programmes once they are listed on JAMB CAPS.
