Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has made history by emerging as the winner of the Best AI or AI-Related Programme (University) award at the 2025 AI Awareness Day in Higher Education, recognizing its B.Sc. Computer Science programme for excellence in artificial intelligence education.


The award was announced during a virtual ceremony on Monday, February 17, 2025, after a rigorous evaluation of AI programmes across 274 universities in Nigeria. The selection panel, led by Distinguished Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola, commended TAU’s submission, led by Eniafe Festus Ayetira, for its innovation, academic impact, and contribution to AI development in higher education.
The Chairman of the Awards Selection Committee, Professor Nasiru Maiturare, congratulated TAU on its achievement, appreciating the university’s dedication to advancing AI in Nigeria’s Higher Education.
Reacting to the honour, TAU’s Founder and Chancellor, Engr. (Dr) Johnson Adewumi, expressed his pride in the institution’s progress, saying: “Artificial Intelligence is the language of technology today. STEM innovation is shaping the future, and Thomas Adewumi University stands is the go-to-place for AI and technology.”
With this award, TAU further solidifies its reputation as a leading institution in AI education, reaffirming its commitment to producing graduates equipped with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
