UNIJOS Best Graduating Student Shares the Secret Behind Her Academic Excellence

Chine-me Rueben Esor, a 30-year-old Computer Science graduate from the University of Jos, emerged as the overall best graduating student with a 4.82 CGPA, attributing her success to consistent hard work and daily study, earning multiple top awards and expressing plans to pursue robotics to help address Nigeria’s security challenges.

Chine-me Rueben Esor has emerged as the overall best graduating student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, after earning a first-class degree in Computer Science with a cumulative grade point average of 4.82.

Esor was the top graduate at the university’s 34th and 35th combined convocation ceremonies and Golden Jubilee celebration held in Jos on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

The 30-year-old indigene of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, attributed her outstanding academic performance to hard work, consistency, discipline, and studying every day. She explained that regular reading played a major role in helping her achieve academic excellence.

“I read almost every day, to the extent that some of my colleagues thought I had no life outside my studies,” she said. “But that is not true. I still do other things like shopping. The key is combining hard work with consistency.”

Her exceptional performance earned her several awards, including the Chancellor’s Prize, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council’s Prize, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize.

Looking ahead, Esor revealed her plans to further her education, with a strong interest in robotics. She explained that she hopes to apply the knowledge she gains to help Nigeria tackle its current security challenges.

“After my studies at UNIJOS, I want to go further in my education. I am particularly interested in robotics, and when I am done, I intend to use what I have learned to help Nigeria address its security problems,” she said.
