North-Eastern University Gombe has Secured the NUC Approval for 12 Academic Programmes


The Management of North-Eastern University, Gombe (formerly Pen Resource University) proudly announces a landmark achievement in the just concluded 2024 National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Exercise. The university, which was established in 2022 presented twelve (12) academic programmes matured for her first accreditation exercise, and the NUC granted all the programmes FULL ACCREDITATION!; a testament to our uncompromising commitment to academic excellence, institutional quality, and national relevance.
With an impressive overall university average score of 91.4%, our programmes excelled across the board:
- B.Sc. Business Administration – 99.1%
- B.Sc. International Relations – 95.4%
- B.Sc. Accounting – 94.8%
- B.Sc. Architecture – 94.5%
- B.Sc. Computer Science – 92.7%
- B.Sc. Information Technology – 92.7%
- B.Sc. Public Administration – 89.8%
- B.Sc. Software Engineering – 89.3%
- B.Sc. Economics & Development Studies – 88.8%
- B.Sc. Cyber Security – 88.4%
- B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry – 87.0%
- B.Sc. Mass Communication – 84.5%
In addition to the NUC exercise, the University has recorded significant milestones with other key regulatory bodies. In January, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) visited the institution and issued high commendation for the standards observed. This led to a remarkable increase in our admission quota for the B.NSc. Nursing Science programme. Similarly, the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) conducted a successful resource verification visit in March 2025, affirming the University’s strong commitment to architectural education and professional standards.
As part of our commitment to continual quality assurance and academic growth, the following eight (8) academic programmes will mature for accreditation in November/December 2025: B.Sc. Public Health, B.Sc. Building, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Environmental Management and Toxicology, B.Sc. Petroleum Chemistry, B.Sc. Data Science, LLB Common Law, and LLB Common and Islamic Law.
In addition, the following will also mature for accreditation in 2026: B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science, B.NSc. Nursing Science, and B.Sc. Procurement Management. The University also has approval from the NUC to run the following academic programmes: B.Sc. Political Science, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Microbiology, and B.Sc. Urban & Regional Planning. Admission into these approved academic programmes is currently open for the 2025/2026 academic session.
