The Taraba State Government has announced Monday, September 21, 2020 the official resumption date for first (1st) term academic activities for all Primary and Secondary Schools in the state for the 2020/2021 academic session
The Taraba State Government on Thursday directed Primary and Secondary Schools in the state to reopen on Monday, September 21, 2020.
Commissioner Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Johannes Jigem, gave the directive after meeting with stakeholders in the education sector.
Jigem, who conveyed the directive of Governor Darius Ishaku for the reopening of schools, emphasised strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocol.
“We have directed all schools to wave the third term which was thwarted by the effects of the pandemic.
“School resumption by September 21 is for the first term and fees are to be collected for the first term.
“Government hereby encourages parents to send their children back to school immediately,” he said.
The commissioner, who explained that the reopening of schools was basically for primary and secondary schools in the state, was silent on the date for the reopening of tertiary institutions in the state.
TARABA STATE SCHOOLS ACADEMIC CALENDAR:
FIRST TERM
- Resumption: Monday 21st September, 2020 – Friday 18th December, 2020 (13 Weeks)
- Vacation: Saturday 19th December, 2020 – Sunday 3rd January, 2021 (2 Weeks)
SECOND TERM
- Resumption: Monday 4th January, 2021 – Friday 7th April, 2021 (14 Weeks)
- Vacation : Saturday 10th April, 2021 – Sunday 25th April, 2021 (2 Weeks)
THIRD TERM
- Resumption : Monday 26th April, 2021 – Friday 30th July, 2021 (14 Weeks)
- Vacation : Saturday 31st July, 2021 – Sunday 29th August, 2021 (2 Weeks)
NOTE :
- All National Public Holidays are to be strictly observed by public and private schools as may be directed by Federal or State Government.
- Boarding Schools are to resume on Sundays while Days Schools are to resume on Mondays
- All Principals, Headmasters/Headmistresses and Owners of both Private and Public Schools are to adhere to the provisions of the school calendar
- No public or private school should therefore close early or resume later or go on mid-term break without the approval of the State Ministry of Education.
- First Term 2021/2022 academic session begins on Monday 30th August 2021.
