COOU Enforces “No School Fees, No Exams” Policy – New Invigilation Guidelines Revealed for 2025/2026 Examination.

Following the release of the 2025/2026 First Semester Examination Timetable, the School Fees Drive and Examination Monitoring Committee provides the following guidelines for seamless examination invigilation:
- Only the Bursary Certified School Fees Payment List should be used to check students in.
- Departments must:
- Print out the Bursary Certified School Fees List
- Use it for checking students in
- Keep the list updated from time to time
- Check-in should be conducted only by Lecturers on invigilation duty.
- Departments must adhere strictly to the No School Fees, No Exam Policy with no exceptions in all examinations.
→ The HOD/Exam Officer will be held responsible for any lapses. - Exam Officers shall:
- Be in custody and in charge of collection and administration of answer scripts and question papers
- Carry out these duties with the assistance of other lecturers
- All examinations must:
- Start at the scheduled time
- Have students checked in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time
- On no account should students invigilate examinations.
→ The HOD/Exam Officer will be held responsible for any lapses. - If non-teaching staff must participate in examination invigilation:
- They must be accompanied by teaching staff (since it is an academic exercise)
- The HOD/Exam Officer will be held responsible for any lapses
- Every examination hall should be invigilated by at least four invigilators.
Faculties may adopt Central Invigilation (where students of the faculty are mixed and scattered during exams) to allow wider invigilation by all faculty members on duty. - Invigilators who:
- Refuse to take part, or
- Keep missing invigilation duties
should be reported to the committee for onward transmission to University Management. - Cases of malpractice must be:
- Properly documented
- Details made available to the monitoring team for further documentation
- Students who are on suspension must not be allowed to write examinations except at the level they are repeating.
→ The HOD/Exam Officer will be held responsible for any lapses. - Invigilators should properly check spillover students to ensure they have paid their fees before allowing them to write any carryover course.
- Invigilators implementing the 75% attendance rule must present a copy of the attendance list in the exam hall to ensure students are not being victimized.
- No student should be denied the opportunity to write an examination except for:
- Not paying school fees, or
- Not meeting the 75% attendance requirement (with evidence)
Thank you.
