Federal College Of Agriculture Akure Matriculates New Students, Charges Them On Excellence

The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), Dr. Akinyemi A. Fadiyimu, has urged newly admitted students to embrace hard work, discipline, and dedication to their studies to excel in their academic pursuits.

Speaking at the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at the college’s New Lecture Theatre, he encouraged them to maximise their time at the institution, particularly by engaging in skill acquisition programs within the agricultural value chain.

Reaffirming the College’s commitment to providing world-class agricultural training, Dr. Fadiyimu assured students of continuous improvements in teaching and learning facilities to enable them to compete favorably on a global scale.

The Provost emphasised the importance of good conduct, warning that indecent dressing, cultism, drug abuse, and any form of indiscipline would not be tolerated. He made it clear that the College management would not hesitate to enforce strict disciplinary measures, including expulsion, for violations.

Dr. Fadiyimu also stressed the need for punctuality and regular class attendance, noting that students with less than 70% attendance would be ineligible to sit for examinations. He further encouraged them to make extensive use of the College library, stating that diligent study is the key to academic success.

While congratulating the new students, he assured them that their certificates would remain valuable as long as they remained focused and committed to their academic work. He also expressed appreciation to the press and all guests present at the event.

The ceremony concluded with the administration of the matriculation oath, officially inducting the students into the College. The event was attended by principal officers, academic board members, parents, and invited guests.
