History of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University

In 2016, former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha established a private-owned University called Eastern Palm University.

However, following rumors that the university was built with Imo state funds, Imo state government seized the university from Rochas and renamed it to Kingsley Ozumba (KO) Mbadiwe University on on 18th February, 2021.

As a result, KO Mbadiwe University is recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 42nd State University in Nigeria and 143rd in the Nigerian University System.

KO Mbadiwe University is a state-owned university with the main campus located at Ogboko in Ideato South Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, Nigeria.
